The National Association of Adult Survivors of Child Abuse featured international author and advocate, Dr. Gregg Tyler Milligan and his appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show in an article highlighting Dr. Milligan's courage in sharing his story with millions through the interview along with his books and advocacy.
Dr. Milligan's story shows that anyone who has undergone trauma and adversity can heal through the power of education and compassion to have a beautiful life.

Last winter, Gregg Milligan, a RAINN Speakers Bureau member who was physically and sexually abused by his mother, appeared on The Oprah Show. “I now live my life focusing on building myself in positive ways. Ten years ago, I began to write about my experiences as a child, opening the door to my past. I hope that if others could see where I came from, then they could also see how far I've come, and truly believe that we can ALL make it,” says Gregg. “It’s not my story, but our story.” Gregg is the author of the book, “A Beautiful World.”

"That is exactly the reason why I wanted to do these shows," Oprah says. "To get people to step out of the shame, to come forward, to tell somebody."
Tom, a 39-year-old who says he's a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, joins Oprah on Skype to thank her for bringing Gregg's story to light. Thirty years ago, when Tom's abuse began, he says this topic was never discussed.

Raising a son has been part of his own healing process, Gregg Milligan told Oprah Winfrey as part of her interview with the author on The Oprah Winfrey Show.
"One of my greatest fears was that I would turn out like my parents, and being able to raise my son with love and he knows no violence, it really affirmed that this might be okay," he says. "It can be done. It's a choice, and we need more people making the choice not to abuse."
